WANG Yi-Ting
Exploring the essence of all life in nature and probing the movement and conversion of energy between natural and man-made objects. Using natural media as a carrier of time and applying forms by transforming it into “dessin-espace”. The layering method of repeated construction and deconstruction is used to enlarge the trajectory of natural objects, juxtapose the actions and objects in different time and space artificially, and give poetic imagination and the possibility of openness. Exploring the operation of time in different dimensions, the work attempts to coexist with paradoxical issues such as prolongation or termination, growth or decay, existence and disappearance.
Wang holds a MFA from Marseille-Méditerranean College of Art and Design in France (DNSEP). She has won the Taipei Fine Arts Award 2019 (selected) and the 2017 Tainan New Arts Award.
In “Reed” by Yi-Ting WANG, the image of reeds swaying with the wind blowing on wetland is repeatedly stopped and replayed, which interlacing the pins marked by the artist and their shadows on the wall, playing the unique melody composed in the collaboration of nature and humankind.
